Qait Bay Fortress - Alexandria, Egypt - Photo

Until felled by an earthquake in the 14th century the famous Lighthouse of Alexandria stood at this spot. In the 15th century a local Sultan built this fortress using, at least in part, stones from the original lighthouse.

Haven’t made it to Alexandria yet, but it seems such an intriguing city. I think of the warm, sandy colour of the desert and the blue of the Mediterranean. Your photo depicts that perfectly.
