My photos were also qritten to a CD (by a friend) and when arriving at home the CD appeared to be empty. After an extensive investigation I found out that the CD was not "finalised" after being written, thus preventing another computer from "seeing" the files. I eventually succceeded in recovering the photos after finding software on the internet that enabled me to "see" the invisible files.
